Infant Assistant, Meadow Infant Community / Afternoon Director
Emma Gilmore is our floating whole school support and Afternoon Director She has been working in the field of Early Childhood Education since 2013. Emma is a graduate of the Early Childhood Education and Family Studies program at Portland Community College and received her certificate in December of 2013. Emma’s main focus was the overall social, cognitive, and physical development of Infants and Toddlers.
Emma was the lead teacher in a toddler classroom for two years and in the fall of 2016 discovered the wonderful world of Portland Montessori Collaborative! She is an integral part of the wonderful support staff at pdxMC and has the opportunity to work in many of the classrooms and to get to know all the children in our school. Emma says, “The one thing I love most about working with children is to see and discover the world through their eyes. Children have such wonder and excitement over ordinary things, which help adults see the world in a whole new light.”
When not at pdxMC, Emma enjoys spending time with her “nieces” and “nephews” who were the inspiration for becoming a better teacher for little ones. She also spends time with her family and husband and going on many adventures with the people she loves. Emma loves Kayaking, listening to music, shopping and her favorite thing to do is driving her Mazda!
