Portland Montessori Collaborative is always seeking creative, flexible, and grounded talent in our teaching community.
Positions include working with infants, starting at three months, up to children six years of age, working with many adults, cleaning, gardening, and assisting children with mealtimes, bathroom, and sleep. Some positions require an ability to be outside for up to 2+ hours a day in any weather. Montessori experience is not necessary. Respect for children and what you can learn working with them is a requirement. Previous experience in a child care center or classroom experience is preferred. A sense of humor is helpful.
We encourage our staff to be open to changes within themselves, to learn daily, and to be their authentic selves with the children. We view the role of the teacher as a guide or collaborator with the children, the environment, and the other adults. We understand that learning happens all the time, and not just while the children are working with the Montessori materials. We view the role of all the adults in the environment as ‘teacher’. Portland Montessori Collaborative (pdxMC) is deeply committed to environmental sustainability; we integrate conservation into our curriculum and practice. Ours is an all-day year-round Montessori program.
