Guide, Art Specialist, Garden Side Casa
In 2008 Alison earned her teaching certificate from the Montessori Institute Northwest. She went right to work at a Montessori school for two years as an assistant. Wanting to be able to give more to the children she worked with, she went back to school to finish her education, while working as a substitute teacher for various Montessori schools in Portland. She graduated PCC with an Associates of Science, where she studied American Sign Language, native landscaping, organic gardening, and fine arts. Alison earned her BFA in winter of 2016 from PNCA . Alison was a substitute with pdxMC and then a full time co-teacher in our Garden Side Casa between 2015 and 2018. She transitioned in the summer of 2018 into a part time whole school support position, subbing in the classrooms and working on curriculum development. Her experience with children includes volunteering as a mentor for Big Brothers Big Sisters, summer work as a nanny and has been a foster mom since last 2015. When she is not working she spends her time with her kids, the many pets, in the garden, or going on bike rides.
