Portland Montessori Collaborative

Portland Montessori Collaborative is a Montessori pre-school in Portland, Oregon offering full and part day care for infants through Kindergarten. We are a year round school offering four and five day schedules for full and part day care.

Infants

Portland Montessori Collaborative offers full and part time care options for children six months and older. Our infant program is a blended age program, and we have a cohort of infants and toddlers. We believe that between birth and six years, a child undertakes the awesome task of constructing themselves as a person. As such, all facets of a child's development must be addressed - social, emotional, spiritual, and intellectual. As the child works to construct him or herself, we respect their activities as such, and refer to the activities that they engage in as "work."

Children

Our Montessori Primary or Children's House is for children three through six years of age. Children are encouraged to stay through kindergarten. Occasionally a child between two and a half and three may be invited to join the Children's House. In our classroom, or Casa, children move freely and choose activities based on their interest and ability. The certified Montessori teacher, or ‘Guide’ observes the children, and matches each child to activities that she believes will meet their unique developmental needs.
