Amanda has been a teacher and an administrator of educational programming for more than 15 years combined. Education as social justice is at the core of her personal philosophy and commitment to the work she’s been doing throughout her career. Amanda put herself through college and now holds a Master’s of Arts in Teaching and a BA in History. Starting as a Substitute for All Roads Learning Community and Cedar Montessori in 2011, she has worked in all classrooms at pdxMC in every capacity since our inception. A native Portlander, Amanda has also lived in snowy, mountainous places so she could work in day cares and snowboard for free, as well as big cities such as San Francisco and London, England (so she could acquire a British accent and marry Simon Le Bon – it didn’t work). Amanda boasts a fierce sense of humor, and outside of pdxMC, she works in the world of stand-up comedy as a Producer of the annually held Bridgetown Comedy Festival here in Portland. You will never see her on the comedy stage, but will see her backstage and in the front row at as many Duran Duran concerts and the universe allows. Or at Disneyland. Or with her pugs and hubs at the beach.
